Write a review man! Its fun and shares info with folks that might be considering the same model. I am really curious about that model.
-
Definitely waiting for more info/review on the laptop. Thanks!
Will go BB tomorrow to check it out. -

awesome man im really interested in this one
-
Well I'm not sure how to use the performance and benchmark programs. I'm pretty new to that.
However, I am interested in the exact hardware. I.E does the 9600 Nvidia GPU really comes with 1 gb of GDDR3 or GDDR2. You can use PC Wizard to check it.
http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php
I'm also curious if the screen has a LED display. I don't think PC wizard tells you as it doesn't differentiate between CCFL and LED but it does tell you which manufacturer the screen come from.
Vinceboii: Are there any documents confirming that the laptop has a LED screen in the ASUS box? Right now there is a brief mention of it on the BB website and it could be wrong.
Pics would definitely be welcomed as well. =) -
i honestly LOVE the way they look and certainly the X83Vm-X1, there is another model a bit slower.
to be honest, if it had a 15" screen i would buy it over the m50vm-b1, as funny as it sounds but its got the same specs as a m50vm-A1 with just a smaller screen.
i like these kind of designs, but the only thing that turns me off is the keyboard, they go overboard when they clear coat it to be honest. other than that, i love the way it looks -

so i saw the glossy finish for the X83Vb-X1 and thought thats how it looks like on the X83Vm-X1 but i was wrong when i open it its a lot better looking, no glossy finish.
ill take pictures 2morrow too late now. -
i like both of them, but i was referring to your model, made a typo.
so your saying the keyboard isnt clear coated on your model? i thought i saw they both had that
i mean it matches the whole shiny surface of the lappy and it kinda blends in but i wish it didnt come with it
i wouldnt mind buying that laptop but i need something more fast which i why i am really close to getting the b1 -

hey guys, i got a quick question be4 i do my review, i think imma do a clean format first of all but how can i combine my HD? because the C drive is only 149 gb and the D drive is 138 it says Data(D
and it has 138gb free of 138, i wanna combine it because i don't have use for the other harddrive, thanks
appreciated if someone can show me how to combine the hds so im good to go on my review. -
Do not do that. The D: partition is where you should keep your personal data, so that it is safe from OS failures, and does not require backup before an OS reinstall, in case of such a failure. C: is for OS and applications.

well can i make it smaller? to like 30-40gb? if so can you show me how?
-
Yes you can make it smaller, how small you want to make it depends on how much data you expect to store on it. Give it at least 30% breathing space over what you estimate, I can bet your needs are going to grow over time. Moreover, I don't see what applications you wish to install that take 200GB of HDD space
How to do that. A) do it with the integrated Vista partition manager (I hear it's quite powerful).
Back up any important data! It is not guaranteed that partition work won't destroy the data.
Right click My Computer, Manage (allow any UAC prompts),
go to Disk Management,
resize the last partition on the HDD to the desired size, making sure that the free space is to the left (i.e., that the ORIGIN of the partition is moved and not the END)
then expand the next-to-last partition over the newly created free space.
or B) do it with PowerQuest Partition Magic (commercial), C) qtParted off a Live Linux distro, or any number of partition managers out there.
Note I am saying last and next to last, instead of 2nd and 1st, because most likely the 1st partition is going to be the (hidden to Windows) recovery partition, around 4-6 GB. Leave that untouched.
Hope this helps. -

plus i don't really want the 2nd hd is because i already have a external HD so yeah...i don't really want it. so do i really need the 2nd partition?
-
See above. If you always have your external plugged in (which sort of defeats the purpose of having a portable laptop), then it's feasible to keep your data there. Otherwise, you need to keep it on the internal which brings us back to my earlier discussion.
In any case, I strongly recommend to keep your personal data on another partition than the OS. Whether on the same HDD or not.
However, in the end, it's up to you. Modifying my guide above to account for deleting the 2nd partition instead of resizing is straightforward, and I'll leave that up to you. -
Just have a look at the standard reviews on the site and copy the format.
Superpi, Wprime, 3dmark06, pcmark05, HDtune, maybe try a couple of games.
For games, download FRAPS. Install and run it. In games press F11 to start/stop measurements. Results are in the frapslog.txt in the directory where it was installed.
Have fun! -

I don't know why it is, but people have been reporting this for other models, too. There seems to be no apparent use for that disk.
Keep it though, who knows.

im having problem with my BT, i press the BT hotkey and it keeps saying Bluetooth ON it never says OFF and i try to connect it with my phone but doesn't work , can't find it and theres no BT options except for Data Transfer.
i turned on my c90s and x83vm-x1 and they can't find each other's BT but i know for sure my c90s works. because it can be connected with my phone -
There is a BT button, but no BT module...
-
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
i did press it (the toggle doesn't seem to wok or something, it only says bluetooth on, never bluetooth off) and it says bluetooth on but the LED at the bottom doesn't light up plus when i try to find it with my phone to transfer pictures it doesn't show up

anyone know where i can buy one..?
-
these seem kinda hefty for a smaller notebook i think my old a8js feels lighter
-
Well that's how they get the machines configured from ASUS, it's not like they remove them and sell them separately

oh lol ok i was gonna blame BB
-
Id love to see someone put xp on this thing and run some benchmarks. I took vista off my Asus F9SG and replaced it with xp and it flys now. so I really think alot of benches would go up for this model too. -
Does anyone have heat readings for this laptop?
-
got any pictures or a review yet?
