Yes - minus the brushed aluminum lid on the W3v - the z63a has a carbon fiber lid like the rest of the body.

Transient,
I'll agree about the toshiba, it has very poor construction quality.
For me personally, i think the HP is in the same league as the asus in terms of build, though i like the look of the z63a better which is one of the reasons i chose it...

I didnt meant to start a flamewar of this magnitude. I do have respect for you guys, maintaining a small business in a field that has small profit margins and giants to compete against.
I am a bit offended by how vehemently Justin defends Asus given the fact the he is far from being an impartial party. Regardless, none of this warrants this sort of animosity and I wish you both the best. -

Dude - I'll defend anyone and anything that deserves. The biggest thing that you nor anyone should forget is the reason we're in business. We started importing these notebooks before anyone else because we saw the quality, design, performance, features and value that still comes through today. If we started this business to make money and sold everything under the sun and defended the biggest piles of junk that are out there....... I'd see you point. But you have to remember how we feel about what we sell and anything that doesn't meet out expectations just won't be sold. There's certainly a blurrly line that anyone who wants to argue can certainly find...... but the majority speaks for itself. If I'm the one to defend it, it's because I was asked here precisely for my point of view, my knowledge of the systems and my passion for them.
Fault me if you want (I realize you're not though), but listen.... if you came on here and told us your problem and I just told you to live with it, that's how it is...... then you'd continue to think that's what Asus' system is supposed to be like. You'd be unhappy and everyone you told about the system would be turned off to Asus for life. Instead I told you what I believed. Since I can't see and touch your system I gave you two scenerios which were supposed to get you to understand that (as long as you're not crazy) you should get your screen replaced because it's not normal. For that I hope you're appreciative because I could have easily told you to settle for what you've got.
I hope you get the situation cleared up and I hope you understand where I'm coming from....... this is not my lifeblood.... even though we're an Asus premier partner, this is still very much and always will be my "hobby". I'm an enthusist and I'm thankful for being able to bring people these great systems while sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. Have a good one~ -

No animosity buddy. You were confused as to why people go to us when they can pay hundreds less from dell or build them selves. I meerely explained to you that we are filling a need in a nitche market. As long as we maintain a small company which relies on return customers we dont have to compete with dell. For us to compete with dell we would have to have a select product that we sell almost at cost by the thousands and provide next to nothing support. If that happens you can be sure we loose our status here. I can asure you michael dell or anyone that works for gateway does not put in their blood and sole and free time if any into the business but we do. Thats the difference this is why people come to us.
just put together a z63a, very dissapointed with the screen
