It's not a software client to keymap it, its a BIOs client if you want to keymap it.

Because the FN button is not recognized in Windows as a 'real' button, it has to be combined with 1-10 and F1-F12 and the various other combinations for it to work.

My best advice is to get used to it, its not as bad as it seems at first. Yea - I complain about the Ctrl being at the bottom left on 'regular' keyboards now ;)

There is always an alternative, buy an external keyboard, only if you choose that route.

Really? thought it could be software controlled

I know MB/MBP's have a key input remapper for bootcamp that allowed to remap any of the keys.

it's just hard to get used to because i use a similiar laptop style keyboard on my desktop and I use the ctrl key for so many hotkeys in my 3d work :( it just slows down my workflow.

Normally for games, you can change the function of the Fn and Ctrl keys.

Not sure what a fix is for graphics/office work .... I would do what mythless says, and go with an external keyboard. I use an external keyboard on my Toshiba right now - it's much more comfortable (being full sized with a 10-key number pad), and the tilde key isn't in a weird position.
