I just got the Logitech Z-4 (2.1) speakers for my Asus G1 laptop. I'm wondering whether it's worth getting a sound card as well. I know that for my desktop, going from integrated audio to Creative's Audigy 4 SE made a noticeable difference in sound richness. Pretty much the only sound card for laptops I know of is Creative's Audigy 2 ZS laptop. So, my questions are:
First, what sound cards are available for laptops (PCMCIA)? (I don't want USB cards, as I'm running low on USB ports.)
Second, which ones would best complement the Logitech Z-4 speakers? I would prefer to keep the budget at <$60CAD. I would consider getting a used card if there is no major disadvantage with that.

Probably you should post this on hardware and aftermarket upgrades, or whatever the name of that forum is.
You will probably even find similar threads there. I'm pretty sure there are alternatives to the Audigy, but it's still what I'd get if I had a PCMCIA port. Not the XFi though (the Express Slot "version"), that's a ripoff.
By the way, make sure your laptop really does have the PCMCIA and not the Express Slot before ordering. Probably you did that, but it doesn't hurt asking. -
Thanks for the heads up. I have the G1, which has PCMCIA (TypeII). I'll have a look around the other forums.
