I recently purchased an m50sn. Everything seems to be good except that the video card driver crashes once in a while while playing FEAR. It recovers and I can continue but it's annoying. Furthermore, the frame rate is great when I just load it up, but slows down after a few minutes of play.

Are there any alternative drivers out for the 9500m gs? I should preface this by fully admitting that this is the first computer I've owned in which I would consider tinkering with the video card drivers or overclocking the card, so a little direction with regards to this would be great too. Thanks!

You have basically two options for updating the drivers:
    - try to look for updated ASUS drivers on support.asus.com (unlikely given the model is new)
    - get them off laptopvideo2go.com
I've never used the latter, so this is just generic advice. I hope they support the new 9xxx series, you'd need to check. Also make sure you get a thing called the modded INF for your GPU, otherwise they won't install.

Same thing happens with me. I have a F8Sn/9500m gs. I tried another video driver (not laptopvideo2go.com) & all it did was change the error with FEAR to something else so I went back to stock driver. The only info I get is now & then I see an "out of memory" msg which is absurd since the video card has 512kb & I have over 3g.

I think maybe because the 9500 is new & FEAR is an older game errors are going to happen until FEAR updates its patches or something. Maybe if one of those modded .inf files has something specific for FEAR it may help ?

If you do end up using the laptopvideo2go.com driver & it helps , please post.

I had the same problem with my F8sn (same video card). I installed 169.09 from here http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers and haven't had any errors since. It also enabled more resolutions and options in my nvidia control panel. Just make sure you put the 'inf' file in the unzipped driver directory before installing.

I've been running forceware 174.74 for about 2 weeks solid, no problems. check laptopvideo2go.

I just d/l'd & installed it. FEAR's about the only game I play so I'd like it to run without freezing up.

    Time will tell...thanks.
