    Hi all,

I just installed all the components for my new z96j. When I turned it on for the first time, the computer give an error such as MBR error. I hope this does not mean that there is a motherboard error. However, when I turned the computer off and then on the error disappear. However, I get a blank screen with a blinking line at the top left corner. I also tried to hit delete when i turned the computer on but it does not kick me into bios. Please help me install the software.

    thanks,
    Loc

MBR errror should mean Master Boot Record Error, so im going to pin down the problem on your hard drive, rather than your motherboard.

Did any of the components you installed relate to the OS? Either way, you probably want to try to repair Windows without destroying your data or new apps. To do so, try following the instructions here for "XP Repair install".

you are right. I turned on the computer and press esc and it allow me to choose which device to boot the computer. I chose the dvd, it went through the process of setting up windows but it gave an error with a screen telling if this is the first time you see this on setup and do the following... I also notice my harddrive did not blink green like most installation. the harddrive actually did not have any light.

Did you try the repair install? If it won't even let you touch the HD to attempt the reinstall, then yes, you might have a bad drive. It should be covered under your warranty.

    Sorry,
