I'm asking this here in case its some sort of asus setting. I'm using Asus G1s-B1. And running Vista Ultimate. I have 3Gb ram and 1GB nand flash ram. I didn't use Vista till now (I had it b4 but never really used it since I had winxp on the same computer)
Does vista take longer to open menus from the start bar? Its weird. I go start-programs-accessories... then I get a searching icon for anywhere from 5-20seconds before it pulls up a listing.
Even opening "classic" view of control panel (granted, alot of icons) will take about 3-8 seonds to open. If its normal then I just need to get used to it.
If not, then what do you think could be causing the lag?

Turn off Aero, it speeds up like no other.

Hmm, odd, on my G1s its typically really fast. You can't even count the seconds even on Battery Saving mode...its only slow when using it on battery and doing like Photoshop work or such

theros123- these are mainly menu stuffs I'm talking about. like opening a menu like accessory folder or soemthing. Not even something that should slow down my computer. its weird.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I've noticed sometimes when you open like Control Panel, it might take like 3 seconds, but otherwise 99% of the time its fast...

disable UAC, it might help sometimes (especially when the UAC window takes 5 sec to boot...)

I was an XP user up until I received my Asus F9Dc-A1 which came with Vista Home Premium. Did all the updates and tweaked all that I could, but the whole interface still isn't as snappy as XP. In the Start menu for instance, it will sometimes take a sec or two to refresh icons in the menus. Things like that were instantaneous under XP, even on an old PIII/800 laptop with 384MB RAM.
might be OT: vista speed...
