"n" key on my N53SV stopped working, and "n" characters keep filling up whenever you try typing a word. Have to press other keys to stop it. Tried the keyboard driver, no effect. Sent it in for repairs. Asus had the hard drive replaced and when I got it back, same problem. Just sent it back again. Appreciate any input if anyone had a similar problem.

Does the problem also happen if you attach a USB keyboard?

This thread got my attention because this sounds very similar, if not the same, as what I've been experiencing with the 'a' and 's' keys on my current laptop lately.

One day they just got very difficult. It was difficult to make them register when I pressed them, and when they did they usually registered X such presses instead of the one I had done. X being random, everything from 1 and 2 to 25.

I cleaned the keyboard area properly underneath the keys, but no major difference. So, I have been using an external USB keyboard instead, and lately I think they've stopped working completely. If anyone has any theory about this, I'd appreciate to know. :)

Also, in my case at least, it doesn't seem related to the OS. It behaves the same on both Win 7 and Linux.

What's wrong with the ASUS people... do they not test the machines before sending them back? Warranties seem to be good for nothing less than a full replacement.
