...but it works fine in Win 7?![]()
So I've decided to wait a while before sending my Asus M70Vm for RMA (dead monitor), mainly because I am on a 2 week break from work and don't wish to be without my laptop during this break...
I've just bought myself a TV with a HDMI port and I've connected my laptop via the HDMI port to it.
Video works fine. But I only get audio from the HDMI port in Win 7 RC1. EDIT: The basic windows sounds work fine, although they are very loud, but when I use WMP 11 or Win Amp to play music all I get is static.
I suspect a driver issue but I was wondering if anyone out there knows if there is a problem with XP Home and HDMI Audio output or anything other than a faulty driver that could be causing this?
I've tried setting the nVidia HD Audio output to the default output in the sounds control panel but that hasn't done anything.
Thanks in advance for any advice on this.![]()

Maybe redundant, but: have you upgraded to the latest audio (WDM) and HDMI drivers from Realtek?

Er not sure, the driver is listed in the Realtek sound manager as version 5.10.0.5735 and the codec (if that's relevant) is ALC663.
Didn't know there were HDMI drivers seperate from Realtek, I thought all the HD Audio and HDMI stuff came in the one installer?
Since posting this thread I've tried a few other nVidia HDMI drivers (probably the same one truth be known) and I've still not had any luck.
The audio via HDMI works fine in Win 7 RC1 but not in XP Home SP3, all I get is some static from Winamp and WMP 11 and even the Windows sounds are distorted and too loud despite the volume being set as low as it'll go. -

microsoft UAA installed? (im feeling too lazy to google for a link)
HDMI should be part of nvidia laptop drivers (latest from lv2g or nvidia), normal audio drivers are from realtek (2.28 is the most recent)
nVidia HD Audio Output not working in XP...
