i've paid up front for it yesterday, had upgrade it from 1.5G into 2G(one slot) and 8400 they said they can T/C to 512mb, is that possible? on the net i see the specification has 8 in 1 reader, how come my come with 6 in 1? and one other thing, does it come with 2 batteries or only 1? because i saw on the net they all come with 2 batteries, but my one only come with 1. Am i getting ripe-off?

last question, is it true there are no GT series and GTS but only 8600 in general in laptop?

and what do you guys think about this laptop? any comment or comparison would be nice.

any help soon as possible is really appreciate, because i need to pay for the rest on monday, and i am not going to do that if i am not getting what i am suppose to get. thanks.

anyone kind enough to help? please?

    nobody owns one?

How much are you paying for it? The W7S-B1B is suppose to come with 2 batteries (1X6cell and 1X9cell). Just remember, one is installed in the laptop, while the other one comes with the box. It should also come with a 8in1 reader and not 6in1 reader. Desktop version of the 8600 is different from the notebook, performance wise. There are 2 versions of 8600 for notebook: the 8600M GS and the 8600M GT. Once again, you should make you are paying for the W7S-B1B not W7S-A1B.

thank you guys for the help, but there are still a few fact i would like to get it straight:

1, what's the difference between the B1B and A1B? in price wise and spec wise please? my spec is T7500, 2GB ram, 8400 T/C to 512(is that possible?) 13.3 inch, 6in1, only onw battery 1.3web cam, BT mouse 160GB 5400rpm, 8XDVDRW. and i also bought a 120GB samsung 5400 rpm HDD with external case, total price is 13870 HKD convert to USD 1772.3 is that a reasonable price for what i am getting?

2, is kingston ram better than kingmax? because i havent update my I.T side of brain since 2002, and back then kingston was just a random brand, but the sales guy told me kingston is way better than kingmax now.

3,how many slot is in W7S series? the sales guy told me 2, and he can get me one stick of 2GB so i can upgrade later on, but then i heard that 512mb is onboard!? and that it only has one slot?

alot of question sorry, any help is appreciated. and why is there so less disscusion about W7S? is it because it aint popular? aint worth the money?

here are the ONLY difference between the B1B & A1B:

    1. processor: B1B - T7500 2.2ghz
    A1B - T7300 2.0ghz
*for me theres not much difference between the two powerwise.

    RAM: B1B - 1.5 gb (1 gb+512mb = 1.5gb)
    A1B - 1 gb (512mb +512mb= 1 gb)

    * both computers have 2 slots each.

    Hard drive: B1B - 160 gb
    A1B - 120 gb

    2. kingston vs kingmax - cant comment on this one.dont know much about kingmax but read a lot of feedbacks about kingston and i think its got a good reputation with it.

heres a link to the comparison:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=w7s&x=0&y=0

O.T also, as u can read on the spec sheet. it says "9 cell batt+ 6 cell bat", and it comes with a mouse. and its suppose to be a 8 in 1 card reader not 6. so you might wanna check out the place where you buy/bought it from.

    gud luck!

I suspect the card reader is just a typo on the specs -- I don't think they replaced the card reader from the one ASUS sent the notebook with :)

ok, so everyone is saying that i should be expecting two batteries tomorrow? i mean can the seller pull a doge and said that i am actually getting the A1B but upgrade to T7500, leave him with a reason to only give me one battery?

if that's the case can i rebut? i am not very familiar about dealing this kind of stuff in Hongkong.

The specs are probably different in Hong Kong than US. Perhaps the specs that say 2 batteries are for US, then you can't expect much in HK based on them.

Nope. No ASUS laptop is specced uniformly worldwide. The differences include: CPU, RAM, Monitor, batteries (1 vs. 2), carrying case + mouse (yes or no), warranty period (1 vs 2 years).

w7s-b1b specs are set in stone world wide. if they differ so will the product model. w7s-b1b are the same all over the world but w7s may have different variations. such as a1w a1b others overseas

Possible, then I was mistaken. I only know that in general the specs can differ, so my statement:

"No ASUS laptop is specced uniformly worldwide."

was too strong. Should have been: "It is not necessary that ASUS laptops are specced uniformly worldwide."

    Sorry about that.

ok, if it's set in stone world wide, and my spec looks like a b1b, i have enough reason to go and fight for my battery now? i would like to make sure before i go argue with the whole store by myself here.
