    Hi,

I got a new W3V and while it's gorgeous it has some problems:
    - I tried to play vampire the masquerade bloodlines but the application kind of freezes and I never get to enter the game (but we see the application running on the task manager)

    - then I tried to see a DVD and the movie was playing weirdly:
    - sound came off bad and very low without the speakers
    - images and sound were off and the images seemed to be in slow motion
    - finally there were weird color with the DVD images especially during scene transitions

    - the computer crashed a couple of times with no reason really while saying that there was a file problem with ati2 something

    - finally the resolution changes with no apparent reason...

-- My question is as follows is that a software or hardware problem? I was thinking that maybe it was a problem with the video card drivers. The thing is that I am leaving for a long field trip and I am trying to understand if the laptop has a flaw in its construction/parts or its fixable...

    Let me know
    -K

    Cheers :(

You may need to update the video drivers, either ATI's or Omega's(I believe)

Also, you may need codecs for viewing the videos.

It looks like the problems are all software based, the W3v is one fine piece of hardware :)

It could be that you’re hitting the Power4Gear profile button on the top right edge of your unit. I had one customer that had a problem like that; they would switch to presentation mode on accident without knowing it and lowers the resolution. You’re prompt with a window as start up all the time and you change the resolution in display properties, but it’s still in presentation mode. You restart the computer and your res is back to low again because you haven’t switched. So hopefully that was the problem…

I had a problem running vampire bloodlines on my desktop... it wants to use a very high refresh rate, which my monitor wouln't support and your lcd won't either. overriding the directX settings fixed it.
