hi all,
it look like asus introduced/introducing new notebooks with 512 mb ddr3 ! ram:
in my opinion they are one of the cheapest gaming notebooks. i think a hd2600 with 512mb dedicated ddr3 ram is better than the 8600m mobility.
Asus X52SA-AS017C:
512mb hd 2600 ddr3
dvi out !
1 GB Turbo Memory
2,2 GHZ T7500
2 GB RAM 1199 euro ~ 1643 us dollar

ASUS X53KA-AP021C
512 MB hd 2600 ddr3
MD Turion 64 X2 GOLD TL-64 2x 2,20 GHz
2GB RAM
dvi out !
999 euro ~ 1370 dollar

Looks great, I don't understand why ASUS will not improve their design in newer models, they have lots of notebooks that look great but other are hm not so good
-
looks very great und i will buy one of them.
is the cpu important for playing games ? if not, i will take the modell with the amd processor, its cheaper.
the design is not so important for me, i only need the notebook for playing games and surfing. and i should be cheap with a hdmi or dvi port for connecting my 32" lcd to the laptop. for my needs this new asus books are the best on the market:
cheap,
direct x10 with 512 mb gddr3
dvi or hdmi.

Oh and, it's 256MB dedicated and 256MB hypermemory, I'm pretty sure of it.
Those are the same as the F3KA & F3SA I think, except that the F3SA has a 1680x1050 screen (right plz???)
That would be nice if they bring it into north america. But why don't they give us WSXGA+ resolution??? 1280x800 is too small for me =/ I'm at 1280x1024 at home and my dad's laptop is at 1280x800 and it really feels small when reading texts -
its 512mb dedicated and to 1024 hypermemory according to the shop

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
You mean 1280 x 800 is too big? Highers Res= smaller.
-
I mean the quantity of things I see at the screen. I should have written it differently XD
Mario: Only on the Turion one -
so this is basically f3sv with hd2600 card?
does anyone know for sure if this will come out in us
thanks -
I don't know but it should by the end of september if it does

Isnt the 2600 the equivilant of the GS which also has GDDR3? I thought the XT was supposed to be the main competition to the GT model. Shame Ati took so long to release these, Nvidia will have there 9 series out in a few weeks and ATI barely has anyone using their 2xxx series at the moment.
-
That's correct, the HD 2600 is a competitor to the 8600M GS, and is a fair bit below the 8600M GT.
-
but they do play hd-video better than 8600 gt.
avivo hd is better than pure video hd, right? -
-
Not judging by any of the indications I have seen.

The HD2600 versus 8600GT debate really depends on the VRAM type used. GDDR3 makes such a larger difference that when you compare to the 8600GT, you really need to say which VRAM the 8600 has.
I don't have any in-game benchmarks at hand, but here are some 3dMark06 comparisons:
ASUS F8Sa
Radeon HD 2600
No clue about the VRAM
3152 3dMarks
(run at 1280x768)
(link: http://forum.purepc.pl/index.php?showtopic=239461&st=60&p=2741384&#entry2741384)
ASUS F8Sv
GeForce 8600GT
256Mb of DDR2 (probably)
3467 3dMarks
(run at 1024x768)
(link: http://translate.google.com/transla...2/222619_1.shtml&langpair=zh|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8)
ASUS G1S
GeForce 8600GT
256Mb of GDDR3 (confirmed)
4746 3dMarks
(run at 1024X768)
(link: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=125246)
Bear in mind that the HD2600 benchmark was at 1280x768. At 1024x768 it think it would easily match the ASUS F8Sv's score. So, from these marks, it's correct to say that the 8600GT with DDR2 is equal to the HD2600. However, both the HD2600 and the DDR2 8600GT fall well short of the GDDR3 8600GT.
To say that the HD2600 is equivalent to the 8600GS would be incorrect, methinks. -
V1S gets about 3100 with DDR2 /512mb at 1280x1024, Substantially beating the F8Sa which gets almost the same score but at a lower res.

This thread ( link) has a 1280 x 800 benchmark for the 8600GT:
Zepto 6625WD
512Mb of DDR2
3394 3dMarks
(run at 1280x800)
3dMarks for the 8600GS found here ( link) give it 3160 at 1280x800.
From this then it seems like the HD2600 is indeed closer to the 8600GS. However, there's only about 250 3dMarks between the HD2600 and the 8600GT in the Zepto. When you consider that the GDDR3 version of the 8600GT gets over 1000 more marks than both cards, a difference of 250 marks seems very very small.
Also, bear in mind that this is just a comparison with 3dMark06. These are generally considered to be of limited value compared to real-world testing. At the end of the day, I very much doubt anyone would notice a significant difference in performance between these GPUs (except the GDDR3 8600GT). -

Out of interest, was that score with Vista or XP?
