has anyone tried nhl 06 on their w5a? it doesn't seem to run on mine. it keeps on saying i should updating my 3d accelertor or video drivers. i'm pretty sure it should support it.
help please!

This has integrated graphics, right? I can't speak for the full version, but I tried the demo on my Z63a (also integrated graphics), and I got the same error. I could've sworn that somewhere in one of the readmes it said that the game supported the Intel 915 chipsets, but it doesn't seem to even try to run. It's a shame, too, because the NHL games have usually been scalable enough to run decently on older video cards -- I ran NHL 2004 on the laptop just to try it, and it actually plays pretty well with decent settings.

System requirements say 64MB dedicated card.

The integrated graphics on the intel systems now are about as good as a geforce4 card...... that's very good, but not good enough to play the newest games that are designed for the newest, higher end cards.

my friend recommended me to try this 3Danalyze program. i took a look at it and it seems quite confusing. do you think it can solve our problem?

I know playing nhl 06 on a w5 is going to be nearly impossible even on the minimum settings and maxed out system ram....... If gaming is your main thing, you shouldn't have bought a 12" notebook or one with integrated graphics....... it's a great computer, but it's not meant for that sort of stuff.

argh!!! i just wanted to play during my breaks at school as well. rats. times like this i think i should have gotten a W3V.

Justin is right...integrated graphics are not suitable in any way for previous- or next-generation games. The fact that they share memory kills them the most.

Well... listen, if this is just for something to pass the time... get out a copy of NHL 99 or maybe 2000...... those should work...... I mean on a 12" widescreen, you could turn all the settings down as low as they could go and you'll never see a difference except in speed........ you've got too small a screen to see a lot of detail.......
There is a lot you could do, so don't feel bad because you can't do the newest stuff... it's just not meant for it... but I assure you, there are other solutions to pass your time............. I mean, heck.... I've ported over gran turismo onto my a730w ppc (Asus' MyPal) ......... I play that when I'm board on a PS EMU....... there are ALWAYS ways to cure boredom! -
i just install nhl 2005 on it and it runs almost flawlessly with the settings all the way up! i got my hockey fix haha!

I'm surprised at that, but it's awesome if it works and I won't question it..... I'm glad you didn't have to go back as far as I thought. Maybe the graphics are better than I tested...... or nhl 05 wasn't that intensive.....

You've got NHL running on a W5A?
That has the Intel GMA900 - I'm surprised it works at all!
I mean, the GMA is not bad as far as integrated goes, but the thing that really kills it is the shared memory. -
is it such a bad thing to run it on the w5a? it seems to work quite well.
gta san andreas works too if i lower the details and all.
what is the difference between the Intel GMA900 and GM915? -

915GM is the intel 915 chipset and GM indicates integrated graphics (915PM is for dedicated graphics).........
The GMA900 is the actual graphics accellerator on the motherboard.
No, it's not bad to play those games on the system - IF you can get them to play..... if you can, it just speaks higher of the integrated solution Intel has and proves to more and more people that they don't ALWAYS need dedicated graphics anymore to just "play games"....... you need dedicated to play the more intense games without a doubt and it certainly helps with heavy duty graphics programs as well.
Now, the GMA900 did bring integrated graphics to a new level.... it's got a pixel and vertex shader.... shadow maps and textures are actually hardware accelerated..... it supports directX 9.... There's 4 pixel pipes.
It's a really good solution and better than some dedicated solutions that are still on the market....... but much better on battery life, heat, and weight... and obviously they can then fit all that into a package like the W5a or even thinner, S5a -
i just got nhl 2006 and getting the same problem as u
it says minimum requirements is liek 256mb ram and it supports the intel 915 gfx card.
i've got 1.25gb and everything up to date. intel 915 gfx drivers updated.
but still doesn't work?
did u end up fixing urs LIQUID
