    I am trying to put my sons old m70vm back into service does anybody know of any one problem that would cause the loss of keyboard light,no touch pad and nonoperational hot keys? T.I.A.

    If they don't respond whatsoever, can you hook up an external mouse and navigate to your device manager? See what the device status is for them. And be sure to download the latest ATK package from Asus for your unit.

    If the devices shows up in Device Manager and as working properly, then it's either a problem with their respective controllers, the devices themselves, or Device Manager is LYING and you'll need to reload the Windows default driver.
