i just tried to play mirrors edge and i get a crash because of physx.. well i have a physx properities.exe if i use vista search.. but its not in the nvidia control panel (where it normaly should be). also i installed the newest version of it (i dotn know if that is only for desktop gfx cards? but i think not?). Still i get the error.. still its not in the nvidia panel

    AND

if i u se this physx properities i can find with vista search , it doesnt show me any physx gpu or smth. normaly u should see which gfx card u have or choose one...

so does that mean i dont have physx on my laptop?

    thx bb

What nvidia driver are you using? Older Nvidia drivers don't support it. I think you need driver version 177.39 or better to take advantage of physx.

I've got the same laptop, and I have physx, so you can too!

didnt you get what mrsamsa said? you need the new drivers. Try getting those and then comment when you still don't have Physx.

i´m dling already.. thought i would give it a try.

just a little question: i read u need to remove the old driver first before installing the new one.. and that u need to remove it and clean registriy and stuff blabla.. is that rly needed ? or can i jsut install the new driver and it will automatically deinstall/deactivate the old one?

    thx

Uninstall your driver package, reboot, install the new one. Physx installs at the end of the driver installation, you should notice it mentioned during the installation process.

Edit: also uninstall physx before your reboot

i uninstall physx over programms & features -> nvidia physx

should i also uninstall the driver from there? and if yes "includeing display" or "except display" ?

i´m afraid of deinstalling the main driver so i can´t even rollback :x

OK, you need to know that it's standard procedure to remove your nvidia drivers entirely before upgrading.

"Rolling back" your driver isn't really "rolling back" per se, it's just installing an older version instead. So you need the old driver installer package if you want to go back.

That said, uninstall everything except for the NVIDIA audio driver. So 'including display' drivers.

What do you mean no entry in the nvidia control panel? The 'nvidia physx' has its own control panel - you should be able to get to it by winkey+r (for the run dialog) and typing physx.cpl

I don't have physx in the nvidia control panel. However you should be able to get to it by going to start->run->physx.cpl. If you can't, then I'm stumped. But if you can run the demos, then there really isn't much wrong, since physx should be working technically.

windows cannot find "physx.cpl". make sure u typed correctly and try again

and ye it should work.. it also worked before (at mirrors edge i saw the physx effects).. but it crashed all the time.. and also the physx update (which should fix the crashed) didn´t help.. and then i saw that physx properities doesnt even show me a gfx card.. so i still think smth is weird.. as u see the screen above , there is no gfx card listened @properities oh physx or a option to chose a gfx card :/

What phyx update do you mean? The only physx driver you should have installed is the one that is installed at the end of the nvidia graphics driver installation... you completely removed nvidia graphics, and physx, then rebooted and installed the new graphics driver with physx? That should be all that's needed.

In any event, I don't have a card listed either. The only cards that get listed are dedicated physx cards...

ye i just found out that everything is fine here :D
i thought i should be able to select or see my gfx card at the first tab of physx properities. but this is only if u have a 2nd gfx or smth. However its still strange that i dotn have the physx tab in the nvidia control panel

with physx update i mean: http://www.nvidia.de/object/physx_9.09.0010_whql_de.html

and ye i removed everything and installed the driver with display & hd-audio.. it didn´t asked me for physx but after removeing the old driver, there was no physx anymore.. and afer installing the new driver it was.. so it installed physx automatically :)

Nah, I didn't know about that update, it is more recent than the version that ships with the gfx drivers, you should probably keep it installed. My bad sorry.
