I'm having a lot of trouble to make Windows see the mSata Crucial M500 240gb for install. I want to install in UEFI, on BIOS mSata is correctly detected, USB is created for UEFI it boots correctly, but loads OEM splash screen before installer loads, this is a retail USB, but as soon as Windows installer is loaded the mSata is gone, only the main hard drive is listed. So I have to reboot BUT on reboot the mSata is lost under BIOS, so in order to make it available again I have to turn it off manually and turn it on, then it shows again under BIOS.

However this only happen when trying the Windows installation. I already have OS X running on the laptop with out problems, So it seems that the problems it's Windows related or OEM UEFI, so anyone know how to bypass this problem ?

    Thanks.,

I apologize up front if I am hijacking this topic but I'm desperate. I have the exact same laptop and would appreciate any help from you in trying to install OSX on this laptop. You said you have it installed and running w/o problems. Please help me via this discussion or private message me please. Again, I'm sorry for doing this in this thread but I need any help I can get. Thank you so much beforehand.

Sure, just keep in mind that as almost all hackintosh is not 100% working, and you need to change your wifi card, because the Intel is not supported.

BTW: My original problem was solved using another brand of mSATA, so after doing a lot of troubleshot i came to the conclusion that Crucial M500 mSATA 240gb + Asus Q550LF + Windows 8.1 doesn't like to live together.

    Hi CPRacing,

I finally have chance to sit down and do this install. First, I would like to know what's the latest OSX version working with this ASUS Q550LF that you have dual booting? And did you patch the EFI for a Vanilla installation of both OSX and Windows 8.1?

Subsequently, what bios settings do you have disabled that allows the installation of OSX? Also, could you reference or link to the sources of files you used for your installation (keep in mind I'm really new to finding all this stuff)? Essentially, what I mean is what distro you used, unibeast or multibeast, and other stuff...

Once I got all the right files, I can attempt to do the install...I would also appreciate any help on drivers or "kext" for working Intel HD4400, USB3.0, touch panel, keyboard, and trackpad, etc...

Windows 8 underUEFI require a GPT disk, so make sure the disk is set up that way. If it's set as an MBR drive, it needs to be converted using diskpart from the Windows setup.

You may need Secure Boot disabled to boot from the dive, also.

Can you tell me which mSATA drive you got that was compatible with the Q550LF? Was it a Samsung EVO?
