I am thinking about a 13.3" light laptop. I'd like to hear some first hand experiences with those 2 Asus. I like the Sony Vaio SR a lot and the Lenovo U330 is an option as well. But Asus US customer service is great and Sony is pricey and their keyboards fade out and their customer service is crap.

if anybody had a chance to compare the U3 or F6 with the u330 or the SR, I'd like to hear your opinions.

it seems though that these 2 Asus don't have good battery life and the F6 looks bulky with the battery sticking out.

You may wish to fill in the FAQ post a "what notebook should I buy thread" to get comparisons with other brands.

Between the ASUS models, I would be slightly biased towards the U3 because it is (nominally) a higher-quality model with better materials.

I haven't heard any complaints about the F6 and some F-series notebooks are quite sturdy as well, so this is by no means a final word. Just a consideration.

I've already posted in that section, that's why I am here. People suggested those 4 models and I am checking them out.

When I was looking for an 13.3" notebook I checked the Sony Vaio SR and the F6V-X1/X2 from newegg. I had before a Sony Vaio FZ and was very satisfied with the style and quality. I liked the SR but with the specs that I wanted it was over 1700 bucks. I hate Intel integrated graphics and for 1200 you get the SR only with the X4500HD chip. That was one reason to buy the Asus. For 1100 I got a very well equipped Notebook. Of course the built quality is lower than Sony or Mac but I absolutely don't regret the buy. There maybe some things you have to become used to it. The keyboard is good but somehow diffrent from the ones before. I cannot even say what it is exactly. Maybe the keys are hard to press? At the beginning I did a lot of typos because I haven't pressed the keys strong enough. The rest of the laptop is fine including the touchpad, camera and speakers etc.
The Asus update site is horrible: They don't give you any clue for what half of the drivers are good for, they offer old drivers and mark them as the last version drivers. It happens to my three times that I updated my system with old drivers because they were labled as most recent drivers.
If you look for a light weight notebook for work etc. Go for the F6V.

    Cheers,
    Marco
