It's not seen in my computer, i can turn it off or on in drivers, because it's not there, and it won't open, when it does ( sometimes in boot up i try open it and it does) then it doesn't work again.
what do i do?

Is the optical drive being detected by the BIOS? - it should be listed in the BIOS boot up screen. If it is not seen by the BIOS then there must be a hardware problem. If you can remove and replace the ODD, do so.
If the ODD is seen by the BIOS then we know the problem is Windows.
Go into Device Manager and uninstall the Secondary IDE Channel then reboot (or redetect the hardware). The ODD is normally on this channel and reinstalling the channel may flush out a driver problem. Once Windows has reinstalled the channel it will detect and install any connected hardware.

It sounds like the same issue I had. I found out there was nothing wrong with the BIOS, hardware etc - it's Vista.
To clarify, I couldn't open CDs/DVDs, and when I clicked on them in Vista's Explorer, it would try to format the discs. I COULD access them with the command prompt however, which is how I knew that the drive itself was OK. After this one line fix, I solved this problem as well as numerous others.
