is there a program to overclock the card without flashing the card?
because i really dont want to mess up and have a dead card![]()
i tried ntune but it blued screened and i cant get it to install anymore.
i tried rivatuner but its not showing the full speed its ony showing like 400 for the core and when i higher it doesint overclock it.
i also tried evga precison and it still doesint show the right clocks 400 core 800shader and 300mem clock... tho when i higher it in everest i see the level 3 profile going up but its useless.
is it even posiable to software overclock? cause i remeber the 7800gtx in my dell 9300 wouldint overclock with the new drivers.
so far im loving my asus its a beastmy first asus to

Switch up to DOX 182.05 drivers doing a proper driver sweep first that will grab you some extra performance and its recommended todo before the flash anyways. Links in the flash thread - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=357807
That alone doubled my doom 3 performance and netted me a few more fps in crysis. Main problem is the 64 bit software has to have signed drivers. This unsigned drivers they come with wont load under Vista x64 and therefore none of the tuning options are there. -
ntune works on mine g50vt-x5 try installing the new nvidia drivers 185.81 i think it will install physx also thats a 10- 15% increase on newer games i verified the overclock with gpuz it! the older drivers gave me problems. if u have any questions let me know i havent had a display prob yet. u can get the drivers and the ntune pacage on the nvidia web site

Laptopvideo2go dox drivers 182.05: 9116 3d marks
Stock Asus drivers: 8534 3d marks
Laptopvideo2go drivers 185.81: 7796 3d marks
It's pretty clear that the dox drivers are the best working one's right now for this laptop. I was able to see considerable performance differences in ggpo, fba, mame and sw eaw. Hope this helps... -
Have you tried the drivers directly from Nvidia? I'm using those and they seem to work great (better than the Asus drivers) but I haven't really done any benchmarks.
-
nah, let me try those so I can post results. Should be interesting to see what works the best...brb
8896 3d marks with the nvidia beta drivers. looks like the dox drivers are the winner... -
Flash is safe if you don't try raise clocks too fast like an idiot. It's worth it too.
DOX 185.68 + GTS clocks = 9,956 3dMarks @ 1366x768 -
/\ thx for the info. I flashed and got 9575 3d marks w/ OC via direct console w/ 185.02 dox drivers. Gonna try the latest dox and see what I get...
meh, 9617 with the latest though it's still an improvement. rep up to you good sir for posting some helpful info and I would rep clutchx2, but I did that already a few days ago. -

Note that optimally when comparing scores with the world it should be done on an external monitor/tv @ 1280x1024 or at the same res two people are comparing if the external is not possible.
-
We all need to post reso that your 3dmark is running on. I think for a laptop screen the default is 1280x720.
-
I guess mine would be default as I don't change anything when I run the test. My default resolution is 1366x768 @60hz.

Default res of the test is 1280x1024 but on 1280x800 and 1366x768 screens it sets it to 1280x720. It shows you right there when you open it.
If you dont have the advanced version (paid for) you cant change it anyways. -
yea thats what I mean default on a g50vt is 1280x720
overclocking the 9800m in a g50vt-5?
