i just preordered my w3j and i was making a list of what accessories to buy with my w3j. i was shopping around newegg for ram but was confused if there was a difference between pc2 5300 and pc2 5400 ram. they are both the same speeds but is there a performance difference or a does the w3j only compatible with one of them?![]()
and one quick question does anyone know where i can get a good deal on a optical bay battery for my system? or should i just get a spare main battery?

the numbers after the PC refer to the throughput in Megabytes (or bits - can't remember) per second the RAM can use.
You will not notice the difference between the two, theoretically the PC5400 should be able to be overclocked higher than teh PC5300, that's all. -
o i see.. they are both around the same price so i should go for the 5400?
-
I'd go for the cheapest. - or the one with better CAS timings
-
i see the the cas latency on the ram chips but what do they mean?
sorry but i am what my name implies =D -
CAS stands for Column Address Strobe or Column Address Select. It controls the amount of time in cycles between sending a reading command and the time to act on it. From the beginning of the CAS to the end of the CAS is the latency. The lower the time of these in cycles, the higher the memory performance.
So buy the one which has the LOWEST CAS timings, and it will be faster.
pc2 5300 pc2 5400?
