    It can be either one. However, you'll have to hunt down the XP drivers to make it work smoothly (they're probably already on the Asus website for the A7 series since it's a bit older) - you should be able to adapt any of the XP downgrade guides in the Info Booth sticky if you know what you're doing.

    aye, download all of the XP drivers before you put XP on. There are pages on this site that tell you exactly how to remove vista and replace it with XP. Why don't you like Vista? If you keep at it long enough you might start to like it.

    Search on Asus support for A7S, then click the Operating System pulldown box (right side of page) and select winXP as the OS rather than all OS. This will give you all of the XP drivers that should work for your model.

    It's possible that not all you need will be present, but Asus hopefully shouldn't have updated enough for the -sn refresh to make a significant difference. This is where it can get a bit tricky with downgrades, however, and why one needs to know what you're doing before embarking on this adventure :).

    OK, we'll try this again... it really is there, and here's how I got to it.

    1. Go here.
    2. Under General Download section (right side of screen): Select Product -> Notebook.
    3. Select Series -> A7 Series.
    4. Select Models -> A7S, *not* A7Sn.
    5. Click Search.
    6. Click pulldown box next to Operating System (right side screen): select WinXP.

    Tada! There you have it, all the drivers etc for the A7S series. Good Luck :).

    Whoops, well, you got me there as I didn't actually click on the Drivers tab for the A7S - my bad :(.

    The A7J should have been the last model before the -S refresh, and I did confirm this time that there are XP drivers under the tab following my instructions above.

    Sorry about the confusion I created......

    Many Vista drivers work for XP as well. You should try those first, and if they don't, go to the hardware manufacturer's website to download the XP drivers.
