    Hi guys,

    I am buying Asus Z70A,

I would go with the specification:
    Intel Pentium M730 1.6GHz
    2 x 512MB Kingston DDR2 533 PC4200 Dual Channel
    Hitachi 40GB 7200rpm

    it is priced $1250 - $1300

    my question is:
    1. does the 7200 rpm hard drive really makes the notebook very hot?
    2. should I choose 1x1024 coz the dual channel does not seem to make lots of difference on Sonoma? If yes, when I plan to upgrade later, by buying another stick of 1024, to get the dual channel benefit, should it be the same brand and type? will it be difficult to find the same brand and type?? say 3 years from now..
    3. what is the best value for Pentium M? 730 1.6? 740 1.74? 750 1.86??

    thank you

the 7200 is not so bad for heat... i think 1 stick is ok... not sure on value on the pm... though i got 1.86... that might have been a bit of over kill... dunno... half the time i seem to be running on 800mhz so maybe 1.7 might be better price / performance ratio... dunno though

Best value is the 1.86 right now. About the ram - do you really expect to need 2 gig in the future? They say dual channel doesn't do a lot for you, so probably 1 stick would be better, and it is cheaper. But, if you want dual channel, get the 2x512. Years down the road *if* you need 2 gig, the price of 2x1024 stick will be nominal.
