Have you considered the Asus M6N series at all? Its quite a bit cheaper then the W1N, yet is still reasonably stylish and packed with the about the same/better hardware. Otherwise the main reason to the W1N is cosmetic. It is one sexy looking notebook, with a great screen and good performance. But it is by no means the best value notebook out their.
As for price, can't help you their to much as I'm from Oz. But a good place to start is the ASUS website which has a list of US dealers.

I am also in need of some desparate advice in choosing the right notebook for me....

I have nailed it down to either the W1N (15.4" WSXGA model) or the M6Ne (WSXGA + Radeon 9700 model).

Can anyone please explain the main difference between the two? I understand the W1N has the 16:10 screen but doens't the M6Ne have that feature as well?

    Are both wireless ready?

My use of the notebook is 60% programming/graphics editing (would love the wide screen) and 40% gaming (would love wide screen + better than avg DX9 games performance) what is the better notebook of the two?

Please recommend and justified your reasons.

    Many thanks!

Maybe you should check Newegg. I just ordered mine for $2099, about $350 lower than anyone else. That should means there not much of a price difference between the two.[ :)]

    I would go the M6Ne,
The main differences between these two are cosmetic, that is the W1N looks a lot cooler than the M6N. Otherwise these are basically the same under the hood. The only exceptions are the 9700 in the M6Ne, which will be better for gaming, while there is an optional tv tunner in the W1N.
I had the same choice but the cheaper price and better GPU swayed me to the M6Ne
