Hi!
I have a VX2s and I face this problem:
In Power4Gear eXtreme you can define display brightness level for each power state. Running on battery, I set some of the power modes to a lower brightness level (e.g. 70%).
When switching between these power modes, the display brightness is adjusted correctly. Unfortunately this is reset after about 3 minutes to the same brightness level as if the laptop was running on AC adapter.
I wonder why this is and if there is a way to prevent this.
Thanks,
Jorlin

Power4Gear is nice when it works. I liked what it did when I had a computer it worked on. What computer do you have LMBfisihingCT?

If you have P4G turn off the screen after X minutes, it will turn the screen back with maximum brightness.

Seems to solve the problem... thank you!
Anyway, ASUS should be aware of these problems... -
Oh ASUS utilities are known to be buggy, you shouldn't rely on them too much. They aren't doing much to solve the bugs either.
ASUS hardware = excellent (with some exceptions); ASUS software = no-no -
Im 50/50 on P4G. On my m6bne it works perfectly, however on my brothers g1 does not at all. He had to deactivate it because it would not get out of "power saver" dim mode.

Just to let you know:
I used Asus online support service here and told them about the problem with Power4Gear not maintaining the display brightness in AC mode.
This is the reply I got:
I hope ASUS reads this forum. IMHO, I think this is a pathetic response if you consider that the software is supplied with a laptop computer which has to rely on good power managment (and therefore brightness adjustment) especially in AC mode.
ROFL - I cannot believe it... -
The reply is clearly BS. Basically they are saying that they have implemented the feature badly, without actually saying it.
If you're using Vista, just remove Power4Gear and use the Vista power profiles, they are very powerful and allow you to control everything you want (from brightness down to CPU speed). -
@e.b.e.: The workaround posted earlier here in this thread works fine for me. I like using the P4G-button to change the profile. But I agree with you that the implemented features in Vista are enough. P4G is just a software that is built on top of these features and adds nothing more than possible problems :/

I only keep P4G on my notebook cuz I like the hotkey function at the top... lol
-
We get funtion keys to work with drivers for dimming, but NO brightness controls in windows AT ALL.
There have been a few threads on this.....there is no help! -
My P4G works fine
Good Luck LMBfisihingCT =) -
Yep hotkeys are nice to have (although I'm sure there are ways to bind Vista power profiles to hotkeys), also the icons are cool
But other than that...If Power4Gear creates issues I'd just remove it.
power4gear does not maintain display brightness level
