If you don't want to fidle around with the cpu, gpu and so on stick with power4gear. It's more user friendly (with shortcut buttons to change between the settings). It also changes the brightness of your screen to save power, which CHC doesn't.

However - if you're anything like me, you'll wan't to have chc, so you can tweak you're laptop. It also offers aditional monitoring of hdd temp.

I don't see it as a huge problem to change later on, so if you find that power4gear isn't functioning well enough for you, change it...

R, is notebook fan control enabled in your CHC + W3V?
My fear is if I disable power4gear and CHC don't active the fan when temps are (like now) 71 C... (eve-online running)

I haven't used CHC for crazy tweaking, however:

The thing that chc offers that power4 gear doesn't is the full ability to change settings to "Max Battery", even on AC.
This translates into much lower temps cause the computer isn't doing dynamic switching: it stays locked at 800 mgz.

If you're doing something that requires dynamic switching or full performance, it's a mere right click and select. It's beautiful.

No, it won't do automatic screen brightness changing, but that's simply a matter of hitting the FN button and the f5 or f6... I actually prefer it that way - kinda like setting the perfect light level in a room.

I'm a total CHC convert. The fan control is disabled in CHC (at least with the v6v), which means the fan works based on bios settings. In other words, no problem -- The fan works properly with CHC and there's no danger of screwing something up.

I was wondering what the different settings do? For instance if I am playing a game does it matter if I am on super performance or game, or is it only aplicable when I am not pluged in?
