ive opened up my g1s and I have a few questions, there is some transparent stuff on my gpu, should I scratch this off before putting on the mx2? Also there are thermal pads, should I remov these or leave them on? Is there are any use to putting mx2 on the DDR3 of the gpu?

if you replace thermal pads for arctic silver you will fry your notebook within a few days tops. absolutely NOT. also you will void your warranty. You should not be lifting the cpu either. it has a warranty sticker. removing it will kill your warranty too

I put arctic silver 5 on my GPU and CPU last night, I scratched some dried up thermal substance substance off of them both before applying it. I also put a very small amount on to the thermal pads, I'm not so sure if that was a good idea.

    My 8600m GT's temperature has dropped ~10°C. Only 85°C while under a load (COD4) at 550/1100.
