This is probably a stupid question but i have to ask it anyway. Will the Windows Vista upgrade install on my Asus W3J? I ask this because to my knowledge Microsoft requires you to insert the original copy of you current OS before going forward with the upgrade. For example, when i purchased the XP upgrade for my desktop it required that i insert the full version of my current OS and at the time i had the OEM version of ME. Since Asus does not include the OEM verision of XP Pro with their notebooks will I still be able to install Windows Vista using the upgrade DVD because i know for a fact that i won't be able to afford the full version of Vista. Will the recovery CD's that Asus supplied with my W3J suffice for the actual version of XP Pro, so that I can just purchase the less expensive upgrade version of Vista? Or would i have to purchase the full version of Vista in order to upgrade my OS?

Yes......... It shouldn't be a problem, but I certainly understand where you're coming from.... but still shouldn't be a problem.

Asus knows how they send out XP and they would be making a pretty dumb and probably expensive mistake if they didn't make it easy to upgrade. From what I've read, Microsoft is also paying the major computer makers for this upgrade anyway so Asus has no real reason to cheap-out on something like this.

I forgot to mention - Asus needs to release a BIOS that fully supports Vista before you should even think about getting the upgrade. I'm also eagerly awaiting it.
