questions about my A8JS ordered from btotech.com

Hi, everyone, I just received my new A8JS from btotech.com, default configuration. Just got some questions from the first impression though.

1. LCD leakage, almost the same leaking level as what other threads posted here before. Hm...It looks this becomes a common problem of this model, so I suppose it's not a problem any more.....

2. If I delete the pre-installed recovery division and repartition the whole hard disk, will this void the 2 years warranty?

3. there is a big tag at the right hand side of touch pad which shows "Power4 Gear+". However all the other pictures of A8Js I've seen in NBR does not have this tag out there. They have "Splendid" Tag instead.....Does it mean my A8Js has any difference with those previous ones?

4. I dont like the big tag I mentioned above. To me, It makes the panel a little bit messy. Is there any way to remove it without damaging the panel? Again, will this void the warranty?

I also recieved mine yesterday (finally! ) and are basically wondering the same things.

Also, I don't like Asus' new thermal policy. The fan is spinning constantly, and I would rather have it spin up when needed. Maybe there is some good fancontrol software out there?

About the screen: we were worried here in sweden that we would have a different screen, 1280*800. But it was the 1440*900 you describe here in the forums. And the light leaks are horrible I guess, and the viewing angles, although I don't really mind as I will mainly use it with an external monitor.

Other than that, just a side note on performance: this little lappy rocks! I get very good framrates in BF2142, BF2, Wow and other games. Smokin' !!!

I removed both large tags/stickers on the palmrest as soon as I got mine. They just peeled off easily and left no marks or residue.

Reformatting your harddrive will not void any warranty.

 

I also removed the stickers without a problem. All I did was peel them of gently, no residue or anything .

one more questions: what the recovery disc will do? (XP professional) Can I use it to reinstall a pure windows XP? (without any Asus software) will it automatically repartition my disk back to initial configuration and delete all other files?(only partition C and D) or only format my new C division?

 

if you do the recovery disk just insert the set of 2 discs and when it ask for the 3rd disk (Drivers CD) dont insert it and just do a ctrl alt del and itll boot up into xp pro with out any asus software.

 

I just got my a8js from btotech today as well.

I have the same sticker the power4gear. The other users have the splendid video sticker.

I dont know of any difference at all...



im not removing the stickers the first day lol. I can live with them for a while. Im not keeping them long term either mind you lol.

there are too many stickers, it does not look good.
