I have questions regarding output of video and audio from G1s for you experts :D

    Living Room questions
    1. Can the G1S output 1080i through a hdmi wire to my tv, even if it only has a 1680x1050 display? And when i connect the wire does the laptop automatically do this?
    2. And would how do I output 5.1 sound to my receiver.

    Computer Room questions
    1. Can G1S output 1680 x 1050 for my 22" samsung LCD Monitor (226BW)?
    2. Can it output 5.1 sound to the logitech z5500's?

You'll probably have to press FN+F8 to send the signal digitally through the HDMI for both cases. And yes, the 8600GT can support WXSGA+ aka 1680x1050 resolution, though I'm not too educated on if it can output 1080i.

As for sound, you may need an external sound card to connect it to the receiver, or if you receiver has toslink/SPDIF, you can use that.

What about the z5500's. Can the laptop output 5.1 through the headphone jack? (By the way, g1s has a "Built-in IntelĀ® High Definition Audio (Azalia ) compliant audio chip", and the headphone jack is a "S/PDIF")
