can anyone give me an idea as to the difficulty of installing RAM myself in W1v?....Is it fairly simple, or should I have a tech do it at an ASUS shop?

It's fairly simple. There's a Ram slot under you keyboard and another one under the system itself. You just snap it in and that's about it. You can do it yourself, no need to pay a tech to do it. You'll have to check which slot is open so you can add to it. I'd just check underneath first.
