    realign fat 32 to 4k clusters b4 NTFS?

    I want to convert my FAT32 to NTFS but how do I realign the clusters or is it automtically done by convert to 4k?

    best use a program like partition magic to do that - easy and relatively safe.


    only if you format before installing windows, it will automatically select the 4k cluster size.

    all other conversions from fat32 to ntfs will have a 512b cluster size and this is very very very bad for large files

    Ive heard that by using partition magic for conversion, you actually lose (waste) disk space. Can anyone comment?

    i also want to convert my NTSF C drive from 512b to 4kb cluster allocation unit size. just wanted to know that if I make a backup copy of my C drive will my W3J work as before after the reformat and reinstallation of my files and programs. thanks.
