I was watching a show on my s96j laptop, and then the screen suddenly went dead(black screen). Right now the power led is still green, meaning the notebook is on, but i cant shut it down manually with the power button. It does not respond if i turn caps lock on, usually the light in the status bar go on. Did it died after just ~1week of light usage? :\
well the computer is still on but screen is dead, how do i turn off the computer if the power button does not work, just take the battery out, but it can crash the windows up
I pulled the battery out, and replaced it back in and the laptop works again. Anyway, it should not do that, what is the reason did it happen?

Does your reseller offer 24/7 support? I'd give them a call if possible.
Have you installed anything new or changed any settings recently? -
Have You Add Any Memory? Change ScreEn Settings?

Check your standby settings also what program were you using to watch movie? I know Windows will went standby on some movie programs, if screen went black and won't come back then you should try download the new ATI drives:

usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Use the manual reset hole button on the bottom, hit it with a pin or something.

You should not take out the battery during operation it can damage the battery. I have ruined batteries in the past like this where it just suddenly cuts out even though windows reports there is plenty of juice.
Either do a reset (if there is one - some notebooks don't have this) or hold the power button for 5 seconds and it will turn off. -

U know what happen, the screen does not get back up after hybernate mode i think, cuz i carried my laptop to the car, and once i open it up again, the screen stayed black. Why is it doing it, its not right.
I tried the video drivers GenTechPC gave me. Same
So the problem is that the laptop does not turn on after hybernate mode when its on batteries
