Okay well I installed xp home myself and everything worked fine but the next day i went and upgraded it to pro everything seemed fine and all, but my flash drive doesnt work right with it. I cant access it or save stuff on it and it does not appear on mycomputer. My flash drive works fine on all other computers. My computer will detect the flash drive and makes the noise, the safley remove hardware symbol appears, and under device manager it appears and says nothing is wrong. under disk managment their is no volume letter and i think the problem is that the drive is not getting mounted but idont know to fix it

From disk management try to assign a drive lettter to the drive. Try other USB devices as well in the USB port to make sure the drive is mounted and assigning a drive letter (maybe USB driver issue). If that doesn't work back up the drive on another computer put back into the 96 from disk management reformat and partition as FAT32.
