i have 2 small problems with my s96j:
1 sometimeswhen i put it in standby (close the lid) ,it comes out of it after a few minutes . I know it is in standby because of the blinking green led

2 when i pull the plug for lets say 1minute he doesnt charge it any more . my battery has to go down to like 95% before it starts charching , when it has been only a little while without power (98% batt) the red led goes on but he doesnt charge anything .the leds stays on forever ,till i drain the battery a bit more and than it will start charging and the led will go out when its done.

and quickly an other small question

is it normal that i only have 3700 points in 3dm 05 with cat 6.8 installed

for the rest of the things great laptop.

    1. Upgrade you bios to the latest version.

Heres a guide by Ken at GentechPC.com

"I've made bootable CD which is easier for S96J owners to update the BIOS to version 0901 and here is the instruction:

1: Download NERO image files here: http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/images/N...0901-Merom.nrg
2: Use Nero to burn the image file to the CD
3: Insert CD and when first power on the laptop press "ESC" at Intel logo screen
4: Select Optical drive at boot options screen
5: at "A:\" prompt type "Update"
6: it'll automatically update the BIOS and don't turn off or reset the computer during BIOS flash.
7: screen will go back to "A:\" prompt when finish8: restart the computer and boot to Windows, it'll start to find all kinds of new hardwares.

You do not need to reinstall drivers, Windows will find new hardwares and install drivers automatically."

    2. I dont quite understand, make sure the battery is in right.

    3. 3700 3D Marka 05's with Cat 6.8's is about right, most people get about 3700-4200. 3D Marks really dont mean anything anyways. :)

The battery thing is known and has been happening for some time now. Ken himself on his Z70va has had that problem, and if you let the battery drain a bit, and then let it recharge, it works fine. Now I dont know bout the standby(happening when its closed right?) but, sometimes, messin with the video drivers causes that to happen.

    1the given link doesnt work.
what other things does the bios update do besides solve the standby thing and the merom update .

2 yes the battery charges fine when it is drained past the 95% border if less power was taken out it wont charge it back up ,the charge led will stay un but doesnt do any thing .

That sounds like a solid feature to me. I'm sure it would shorten a battery's lifespan if it were in a constant state of charge.

what do you mean by that . it is quite annoying because when i have a power falure of 5 seconds and my battery is lets say on 99% the charge led will go on and will stay on without charging .

oke i updated the bios had some small probs cause he was saying thet cmos checksum was bad but its oke now.when i rebooted he didnt reinstall any drivers .is that oke
