well i just rollback the drivers that came with the comp and i dont have the issue anymore. it still doesnt seem to be as crisp as my old lappy. i can see graininess even in dvd playback and colors seem alittle dull

hmm... this might solve your problem.

nvidia control panel> video and television tab> enhancenment> check use inverse telecine(u can also mess w/ the edge and noise reduction.

if this doesn't work, check if u have all the codecs installed for divx, fddshow, etc. try media player for your DVD's also sometimes i get good clarity from media player alone.

what kind a dvd is it? if u have rented it from blockbuster or something , the quality should be good. There are some dvd's with MPEG2 format that have horrendeous quality.

The last thing u can try is the newest official driver from nvidia (162.18 with the modded inf from laptopvideo2go)

the reason is that windvd uses nvidia purevideo decode technology that u can buy seperately from nvidia.com also(u have to enable in windvd control for purevideo hardware acceleration)
