My A8JM shutdown is super slow. I thought it was just normal however my friends new hp shuts down in like 20 sec compared to mine which is like 90 plus or more. My start up is quite fast as I got rid of alot of stuff but shutting down is way too long for a new comp...any suggestions..

    1. Defrag
    2. Check to see if a program stops responding while shutting down.
    3. Make sure you HDD is set to Ultra DMA-6.

Right click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> IDE/ATAPI Controllers -> Primary IDE Channel -> advanced settings -> current transfer mode should say Ultra DMA 6 and all transfer modes should be DMA if available. The secondary primary IDE channel transfer modes should also say DMA if available.

Also, try this program, User Profile Hive Cleanup Service :

Also, it could be some of the programs that run on startup, only run programs on startup that you really need. Use a startup program like Startup Control Panel
