and it doesn't work of course it doesn't. it goes straight from the asus boom opening to
REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE
OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS A KEY
i already tried the vista install disk which just leads to a giant ERROR message across my screen and i did the bios boot selection to hard drive and still nothing. and suggestions before i have to wait 12 days for my money back to by a different comp.

Bad hard drive sounds like.
-
took it apart and noticed the hard drive wasn't attached so took care of that but i'm not sure about some other things i noticed dont look very secure on the inside anyone mind taking a picture or linking a picture of a close up shot of the inside of the g51vx thank you
-
ok well everything seems to be running fine since the hard drive i have installed far cry 2 and played for about 30 mins on max settings with native res and no lag didnt even get that hot. So before i start to install all my stuff is their any other test i can do or should do?
-
hows the battery life on Word and internet stuff only.
-
about 2 hours on just internet surfing but it was only 80% charged when i started
-
shweet! 10char
-
im assuming you got it from newegg. did it come with anything extra?
-
no nothing extra just what was in the picture. also anyone know if their is a way to test the built in bluetooth without a blue tooth device? sounds like a dumb question but i thought i would ask i lost my bluetooth headset but i want to test everything on this laptop to make sure it works before i install a lot of stuff

this is true i will just wait for the morning and get someone over
-
Wow.....I can't believe the harddrive wasn't connected properly. You'd think they'd remember to check that......
-
yea it was just laying in the spot not connected but it looks like their is a spot for screws to hold it in, does everyone else have screws holding theirs in place?
-
it's suppose to be held in place with 2 screws to the laptop.
4 screws hold the actual drive in the bracket and 2 screws from the bracket holding it in place to the laptop.
I would look into that.
Why there's 2 screws missing screams out that your laptop may have been opened box or something.
It just seems odd that the drive wasn't connected out of the box like that. -
yea its my first time ordering something like this off the internet so it makes me a little nervous but i went to true value and got some screws and everything seems to be fine for now.
-
it came with the 2 year parts/labor and 1 year accident right? I contacted newegg asking this and they said it came with no warranty?!
-
it did come with a warranty card i haven't really read any of the stuff it came with but i will check it out when i get back home
-
mkay, must have been a dumb customer service rep who told me that
-
Just installed a second drive in my X2A. Was your hdd not secured to the bracket? Or was bracket not secured to the Frame of the laptop? There no mistaking the properly secured HDD.
-
my hdd was not secured to the bracket or plugged in at all it was just laying in the spot but the bracket was secured to the frame
-

But if the bracket is screwed in it would mean it would have to be plugged in.
Weird. So the HDD was secured to the drive bay, just not plugged in? -
Hi, new to the forums. I've got a couple of questions: I've been considering ordering a G51vx, but the heat generation of the A1 (over the long term) concerns me. I'll be traveling outside of the US for quite a while and I'd like a notebook that doesn't run too hot (the cooler the better). I've been looking for heat info on the x2a but I'm not finding anything. I know I could order a Sager, but I'm leaving on August 26th and won't be back for a while, so my only option is a pre-built laptop.
Could you do some heat benchmarking on the x2a? Idle and load temperatures plus subjective opinions? -
temp wise all the g51's are the same. asus uses the same cooloing solution on all variations. so at full load, all g51's temps range between 85-95*C.
-
Thanks for the info ChinNoobonic. I actually just stumbled on another thread talking about this very issue: x2a heat.
Tried the search function before but nothing came up. -
so my x2a came in
