hi, i've been reading qute a # of threads regarding this model.
I've pretty much looked everywhere but couldn't find my answer to these questions.

For this model, what RPM is the HD running at? 4200 or 5400?? It doesn't say on the asus site. Also, is it an ATA HD or a SATA?

Also, is the dvd writer a dual LAYER or just dual? I've seen both terms used in diff places.

Another thing, does the model have a Infrared receiver? what is SIR?

    one last thing is...how's asus's after service/support?

    thanks very much!!!

The US W3v has a 5400rpm 60gb Hitachi pATA drive.

    Toshiab 8x Dual Layer

Asus is very good service wise, when they're not go back to your dealer and as long as they have some pull with Asus, they don't want to tick us off... But rarely have I ever had a problem.... It's often more a language barrier (sometimes... depends on the time of day).

    Thanks,
    Justin

hrm, i wonder if the US one will be the same as the Canadian one then.. 'cause I've been asking dealers and they can't answer me. My best bet was 'cause they just checked thru the asus site (which doesn't provide that info).

I've read quite a number of reviews regarding the heat. Personally, it's not something that I'd concern greatly with but just wondering what's the optimal time the laptop should be turned on before it starts frying components? Say..the usage was just having it on to download things.
