The Z71v is going to be the first one, and as of last week, the boat's not even supposed to hit before the end of the month.

After that.... mid to late April will have a bunch of new stuff for you.

... That is of course if you're looking for Asus based stuff....

    Thanks,
    Justin

Right on - I can wait. Fall semester doesn't start until August anyways.

Can you tell me if some of that new stuff is Turion perhaps..?

Yeah, there is atleast one Turion system..... it's much like the Z9 series......

    http://www.mobile-review.com/nb/articles/asus-notepc-cebit2005.shtml

It's the 3rd from the bottom... It's not going to be as hot as the sonoma notebooks... but it'll be one of the nicest turion notebooks out there.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Count me very interested. After seeing the piss-poor selection of Alviso-based notebooks out there, I've been on the verge of giving Apple a go.

I've always loved the Asus though - if it weren't for the fact that I'm not going to pay that much for a dated machine.

Do you sell them barebones as well, or do I have to configure the entire machine with you guys?

    I hear you.

To date, we wouldn't sell the barebones through the site, but I think that is going to change. Our certain was always making sure our customers got a complete, working and tested machine... but who are we to tell people no when they want to get it from us, right?

Um, those who configure a complete system will get their's first over someone wanting a barebone........ so we might have two seperate pre-orders and things like that...... but there should be enough to satisfy everyone.

What we'll do is set up a seperate section on our site for the barebones and probably even offer up the ram, cpu's and hard drives and so forth as seperate products. We've been doing this for the last year and half for people who ask for it, but it's about time we get it up on the site like that.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Right on, doin up a place where you can buy piece by piece would be nice, it'd def keep you guys on my list of places to keep coming back to. Part of the fun for me is getting to put it all together. That Gentech place has the idea, but their crappy site and questionable config options make me wonder...

But hey, I just might consider letting you put it together for me - the piece of mind would definitely be welcome. Just depends on whether or not the prices you put on the components are competitive.

Don't forget you get a FREE 2-year full warranty with one free shipping. That should itself be worth more than any saving you might make in seperate components

I ordered my Z71V from Propotable with 1 gb Ram and 60/7200 Hdd.Rocks!!

Well, you know.... it's usually not cheaper to do it yourself..... but it's a learning experience. We do it and like to do it, so who are we to say that you can't if you really wanted to?

But yeah, we'll warrant what we do.. so thats a plus.

This customer's-always-right attitude speaks volumes already about the kind of business you run. I will say, I'm very impressed. You can very likely expect a purchase from me within the next few months.

I think I can put aside the fun of putting it together if you'll warranty it for two years. Dear God, that's insane, I'd be paying several hundred for that elsewhere. I'm digging the dead pixel policy as well.

Looking forward to mid-april when the new ones hit. I appreciate all your help.

... well, the customer is only right when they know what they're talking about. [ ;)]

... Our warranty covers anything that will just die on the system.... but when you give it a bath (and I'm serious), you can't come to us and say it just stopped working and that should be covered... [ :)] ... I swear it's happened.

I bought my Asus M6NBe as a barebone with optical and wireless from a website and bought everything else from newegg. 1.6 CPU, 2x256 Corsair ram, 60gig 5400 seagate momentus. Total was only $1460 after all taxes and shipping. Of course, I didnt get that great of a warantee since I ordered from a back channel website as it was the only one I could find with the laptop the way I wanted it... Now that I found Proportables website I wish I ordered from there.

Moral is: Building a barebones IS cheaper and fun, but be extremely careful about warantees.

    ... awwwww.. [:I]

    haha.

I think the moral is, no one needs a warranty until they need it. Make sense to you? If not, you're probably one of the people who think that way..... and if it does make sense, you're probably one of the people who found out the hard way that my statement is true.

Everyone's worried about their wallet... I understand that. The younger you are, the less you have to save to make you go from someone you can trust to someone selling out of the back of their truck (and that goes for computers to just about anything else).

    Thanks,
    Justin
