hi. i have an ASUS M51S. 3gigs of RAM, 1.6 ghz c2d procesor and 250gb harddrive. recently iv been noticing that my processor is being maxed out pretty much constantly. i know its not a great processor to begin with but i start lagging even when im only running just firefox. i was wondering if both cores were being used? or if theres a way to check. is there a hotfix that would allow vista to utilize both cores?

I believe Vista can utilize both cores.

Personally I think that there maybe some type of software or malware that's actually taking up the cpu load, it's definitely not normal when it's maxed all the time even if it's a slower processor.

Definitely not normal to have the CPU maxed out. Turn on Task Manager and check which process takes up CPU. Then look it up on google and see what app it belongs to.

Are you using Yahoo Messenger by any chance? Yahoo updater sometimes goes wrong and eats up the CPU.

The possibility of malware is also there. An inspection of the processes list and what is taking up CPU should clarify things.

You might want to disable that process. It will launch again next time you restart.

Yeah, or just use something else than Comodo. I tried it once as well, it was recommended on these forums somewhere, but it's annoying and intrusive as hell.
