hi there, i recently bought a u35jc notebook and found there is some software installed called super hybrid engine.

whenever i turn it on the processor is downclocked to about 850Mhz acording to cpu-z, now what the problem is is that whenever this is turned on the speed never goes higher then the 850Mhz set by the software. it doesnt matter what i throw at it it always stays there. isnt the processor speed supposed to increase when the notebook needs more cpu power or is it supposed to stay as low as this? when super hybrid engine is turned of the same problem occurs but here the processor is clocked at about 950Mhz.

can anyone explain me exactly how this works?

    Sisco

Have you tried running Prime95 or other CPU stress tests? If so, does you CPU still run at 950MHz while running these tests?

yes i have run several different stress tests including prime95, hypePI etc.
nothing changed in the cpu speed. here is a screenshot of me running hyperPI and cpuz next to it.

Have you tried reinstalling Power4Gear Hybrid? There may be a newer version on the Asus website that might work better.

reinstalling didnt fix anything but i have found that the cpuspeed does increase when power4gear is set to high perfomance BUT with the super hybrid engine turned off. but when on battery saving mode it clocks done while doing the tests....

How about uninstalling Power4Gear entirely? Does that do anything different? Also, for the last line of attack, you could try doing a clean OS install. If even after doing a clean install your CPU is still not performing as it should, I'd contact Asus for an RMA.

well, i unistalled power4gear completely and everything seems to be working now. the only problem is that this may cost me some extra battery life =/
