I just changed from vista to XP, and one of my drive became a system drive and I can't change the letter anymore (D:\ to E:\) because I have two drive, a C drive and a D drive, and I want to change my D drive to E drive. but when i try to make that change, it said "windows cannot change it" because it's a system volume or something...but I was able to make that change when i had vista before, then how come all of a sudden became a system drive

another question is, with XP, when I go to start>all program, it's like having this fading in effect, meaning it takes really long o show up the programs, like it'll slowly becomes visible (fading in)

    anyone knows?

You can turn that off by accessing your Display Properties (Right click Desktop-> Properties). Choose the Appearance tab and click on the Effects button. Change the effects to Scroll rather than Fade or uncheck to not use any. Hope that helps.

Regarding this question, what drive did you actually install XP on? Currently I have XP installed on D: drive, so it would not be recommended for me to change the letter of my D: to C: since it might effect how XP boots on my laptop along with other programs. (someone might need to clarify this one).

However, a google search resulted with these instructions on how to change your drive letter using the registry (especially if you are having issues doing it the regular way).
