    So heres the deal:

    1)GPU idle temperature 69-72c, stress temperature 92-98c

    2) example: when I start crysis and play it I get around 40-50fps everything on low 1024x640. After couple of minutes temperature rises 96-98c and fps drops 20. Bioshock works 30-40 fps everything on low 800x600.

    3) I have removed tapes from the plate that covers gpu and cpu. I have also done improvements using these threads:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532&highlight=vista+tweaks
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=172717
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=179315

    4) My 3dmark06 score 1280x1024 is around 3200 points.

    5) Got newest drivers from laptopvideo2go, forceware 169.09

    6) Got vista and 2gb ram on my g1s and 8600M GT 256.

Ps. This is my last attempt to get my laptop working as it should be before I call to Asus. If you need to know something about my computer that you think I didnt mention, just ask it.

I suggest FIRST using the stock drivers, see if you can play reasonably (no FPS drop).

Be aware that issues have been recently reported with the 169.09 (if I correctly remember). The thread should be nearby.

Has the tape removal dropped your temps?

I think removing tapes dropped my idle temperature 3-5c. But on stress there wasnt any change (96-98c). I have tried 163.44, 169.01, 169.04 - no change. I'll try now using stock drivers.

definitely try the stock drivers first as e.b.e. suggested

im currently running 169.04 drivers and that got me a really decent score in 3dmark06 (~3900+) - i found that the 169.09 driver actually LOWERED my 3dmark06 score

try the stock driver first - then give 169.04 a shot

EDIT - nm - i just saw you tried 169.04 already - if its severely overheating - you might want to contact asus...

Sounds like something is broken, bloatware can't do that.

100 degrees seems a little extreme. Is there a way to make the fans work faster or better?

just got off the phone with asus, they said it should be fine up to 97 degrees

and they told me to update dx9 which is what warcraft is using (my temp issues)

3dmark only bumps it to 90 ish which is wierd.

i wonder what ATItool is using, the artifact scanner shot it up to 110 in 3 mins

im downloading dx9 as we speak

update: i think DX9 did smthn. temps are now stable at 96 degrees with an occasional spike to 98. thats down from 110 so i'm impressed. i'll test it some more and let you guys know.

i'm still having slowdown/stuttering probs with the game though, and they seem to be worse now...

Exact same boat here.. except mine seems to be game dependent. Everything I have except for Guild Wars runs up to a max of 91-94 degrees.. However Guild Wars runs it up to a stable 96-97 after several minutes. Confuses the hell out of me.

I contacted my asusnordic and said about temperature issue and the worker there said that 100c is too much.
You can test it by playing game that really needs all the power from your laptop. Start the game, when game starts, look instantly your fps then check temperature. After 5mins of playing check your fps again and if it has dropped like 10-30 then again, check your temperature. If its something like 95+ you dont need professor to tell you that these two things are connected to each other.

And btw, I've been reading that many people can oc their g1s to get over 4000points on 3dmark06 with 90c max temperature. And one thing, when I oc'ed my 8600m gt only 50mhz core and 50mhz memory, my 3dmark06 result was 765 because the temperature rose up to 105c.

And ofc something must be wrong if bioshock cant work properly even everything set down to low @ 800x600. And yes, I've tried 10 different drivers

Maybe asus forgot silicon compound from my gpu? or my gpu is just broken :p

But my laptop is being picked up tomorrow and shipped to netherlands o_O where the problem is being solved (hope so) or I get new g1s =/.

AND for the note: I tested temperature using ntune and rivatuner

Any updates to this? My G1S is running very very hot and crashing when I try to run games. I am not sure how to measure the temperature but this is obviously not normal, were they able to find the problem on your notebook? How long did it take them to fix it?
