so,my girlfriend is about to buy a new portable due to schoolwork etc.
though we dont know that much about asus portables (im a huge fan of asus motherboards). she really likes the design, wich is quite important when you invest so much money.
could you please give me a couple of key pointers when it comes to both positive and negative sides with this laptop ?
she`s considering the a6g with 1,73ghz centrino,512 mb ddr,9700 and 80gb.

Well, the A6 is a heavy, older chassis, but it is on the cheaper side. I can't believe anyone could actually be a real fan of the A6 design, it is sort of blah.
The A6g isn't available in the US, but also consider what resolution screen you're looking at and compare it against some of the other models. -

well,i dont think it looks that bad
any tips ?
similar specs and asus -
Of course something like the M6 is a nicer machine, but it also cost more. Around here you'd pay ~20% more for a M6V(a) with similar specs as the A6V(a) (IMO a better buy than the A6G). For some the added flexibility and slightly lower weight/volume of the M6 (besides the sleekness-factor) will be worth it, for others the lower cost (and faster graphics card) wins out. -

Ok, well in every world you have to have things that are borning and things that are exciting. The A6 chassis is certainly borning. If you think the M7 (Z71) chassis is "nice" then you might think the A6 is as well. It's on specs are actually still above middle of the road as far as dedicated graphics and yet I think it's design is more on the lower end. All A series models have always been that way and that's always been my stance on them.... they don't have the materials or details found in the higher end systems and that makes them heavier and just something that I feel would have been nice a few years ago.

Hi,
I actually own an A6Va. It is not heavier than an M6Va or Z70Va and adds a 1.3MP integrated webcam. It is bigger and not as sexy looking as the Z70 frame I have to agree. But the weight difference is negligible and I do not think it is outdated. The material used are a little cheaper since it is almost all plastic with only a touch of carbon fiber. It isn't lacking any feature though.
the asus A6G, any comments ?
