i was thinking about buying battlefield 2 after trying it out.. it seem to be quite fun anybody know how well the w3v can handle battlefield 2 at the screen's native resolution?

Not too good, but ok. It'll play "ok" at medium type levels, anything higher then it'll be really choppy. But with an X700 on the Z70VA, it's no problem.

    Shouldn't expect TOO much ;)

Doom 4? Or Quake 4 based off a modified Doom 3 engine?

The W3V is what I've been saving for for about a month now, and I got just over £800, I was wondering (on this topic subject) if anyone knows of a similar laptop to the W3V that powers a bit more punch for gaming. I want a future-proof laptop that won't just be useless when the next gaming generation (probably "High definition direct x" or something else like that) comes out.

Aren't many other choices, Toshiba M4, Chembook 2030, LG LW40...

The SONY BX 14" with the x700 should be interesting but its not out yet, not here anyways

You might have a bit of trouble running it on a 64MB card...the reqs state 128MB required. Just keep the textures and the res down and you'll do fine I believe.

I have been looking at this situation before I settled on asus. I was first looking for a gaming laptop with 14 inch screen before going for 15.4. There are a couple with 64mb x700's then a few more with x600's. Theres more choice with 15.4 inch with x700 128 but still not that many.

i've heard that the 64mb x700 are terrible because they have 64bit memory (vs. the 128mb x700 with 128bit memory).

    Sorry to be off topic:
Will this game work w/ this setup?
    Inspiron 9300
    Centrino M 1.73
    256 Nvidia 6800 go
    1 gig ram
    100 gig HD 5400 rpm

A buddy of mine had the game and we tried loading it. It loaded fine but when it came to playing it just stalled. Any help would be great, thanks.

Yeah, it would work very well. More like Extremely well. If there was a lock up, then I would say there's something wrong with his system and not the game. I would only question the game if it was a pirated copy of it. :p

It was actually his copy that he had on his desktop. He thought that it wouldn't work and of course I said it would. Made a bet and made me look like a fool. It did seem like it was an optical drive prob. I switched the Samsung drive to a Sony. I will have to try and see if it works again. Thanks
