How long have you had it? The ventilation may have accumulated too much dust.

You my friend have the G1S; it gets hot....very hot; hot enough to use as a heater in the winter. I hit 105 regularly playing games anymore. This is a issue with the G1S and im not sure that Asus is doing anything to rectify it because the heat isnt causing it to shutdown.

Also johnapimp, Ive hit 115C without shutting down.

Take a look at the cooling central...that thread has some great suggestions.

Since its 1 year old, the vents as mentioned most likely need cleaning.

Definitely the G1S is a hot machine and these temperatures may be "normal" for the G1; however, I strongly second Kdawgca's suggestion of trying to clean the fan and the heatsinks, especially if you didn't do it for 1 year. There is also an ASUS-specific guide on the Info Booth, written by Coriolis, and G1S disassembly instructions that might be of use.

Yeah, Depending on your GPU driver, even a brand new 8600MGT G1S will max out at anything between 97 and 115 degrees c when gaming. That's why we all need to utilise the sleep trick to play without judder !

Although, of course, it's good to keep airways clean !

I had (well still have, but it's on eBay) a G1S, and it would reach 100C+ if I had played a game for more than 15 minutes or so. It got better when I upgraded the CPU to a T9500 because I scraped the thermal compound off and replaced it with arctic silver 5. There were known problems with the thermal grease that came with some early G1 and G1S models. Also the GPU is known to be bad, see the inquirer etc for coverage of what has turned into a class action lawsuit today (!) against nvidia.

Also, taking the heatsink off isn't hard at all, depending on how comfortable you are working with laptops, it's on the easy side. You just have to take the aluminum tape off that binds it to the edge of the case and wiggle it out on an angle. I'd recommend replacing your thermal paste with some good stuff if you've got the time and energy.

EDIT: BTW I never had any jitter on my G1S-A1... maybe it was because I kept upgrading it?
