so yeah, the sad truth. As much as I like the brand and been loyal to it I need to make a choice. I wanna get a 12" and my choices are the lenovo x200 and the U6.

The U6 I can find it around $1400 and the x200 for $1100 loaded with stuff. That's because I get a 25% off the lenovo.

the x200 is lighter, has LED display, it's a tad smaller but doesn't have a dvd burner. It also costs $300 less. It doesn't have a webcam either, but the U6 webcam is 0.3MP, what a joke.

    What do you guys think?

-I need: fast 7200rpm HDD SATA, SD card-reader, built-in mic (possibly), runs cool, 1280x768, express card, dvd burner (but won't pay $300 for it and I can use an external one that I keep at home), light&small
    - don't care: graphic card, style

Asus still gives a 2 years warranty which is nice. I could add a 3-year warranty with lenovo for $80, or 2 years for $50. So it might come around $1200 with taxes.

This is not a betrayal. Brand loyalty it is rather.
I think you do have the rights to spend YOUR MONEY the way YOU WANT

I was asking more for an opinion on those two laptops and also I am concerned about the Lenovo customer care and their motherboards.
what MB do they use anyway?

X200 doesn't have a LED display. The low voltage CPU X200s probably will (and will be more expensive).

I have not heard good things about Lenovo's customer care. I have a thinkpad and I can say that the times I called in about my notebook the customer services was not very good.

I don't know much about the U6, but the X200 seems to be a nice machine. It does not have an internal DVD drive though. Also, you can get a camera with it.

I've never had Lenovo and do not have any idea about their customer service.
I do not like idea to rely on customer service, I prefer to rely on built quality of notebook and myself. I have no clue about Lenovo motherboards, and even so I do not like to speculate, I tend to think that another company makes this stuff for Lenovo

Lenovo almost certainly does not manufacture their own mb's.

You need to post questions about the X200 and their customer service on the Lenovo forum, as you will get plenty of opinions there on direct experience with it.

As a side comment, many people actually need customer care if something unforseen occurs and are not technically knowledgeable enough to go it alone, so this is a valid line of concern :).
