    Hi All,

I just emailed CanadaSys, and recieved a very prompt reply today, saying that the Z70V will be in next week, can be customized and built by the company, and will be only $40 more dollars than the equivalent Z71V configurations on their website!!

They have really cheap prices too:

    http://www.canadasys.com/laptopasus.htm

    All in Canadian dollars

    Yay! [ :D]

    Sweet.

Now the hard part, I'll need to make a decision!!

My max budget is $2200~ or so, and I'll need a lappy by late august~

Either this, or the Ferrari 4k.

Why the F4k? My mum works at an Acer reseller, I can get a pretty good deal there + unbeatable Customer Service(I have to!!) and I can pay in chunks.

Why the z70v? Sweet price, sweet everything. Canadasys is 5~ mins from my house, so I can get there quick :)

    Ughhh, the pain!!

Also,I've heard rumours of the x700 replacing the x600 in the z70v in late july...

edit: its now on the site!!

    Asus Notebook Z70V

    Centrino - 1.7G( 533 ) $1615

Hold your horses, it;s juts a rumour I've heard from the NBForums...

And some people doubt it as if it WAS released with the z70v, z71v sales would go down the drain...

But others swear it's gonna happen...like the m6Bne, it originally had a 9600 but it was upgraded to the 9700

After all this waiting, it's finally here...
    But X700 is soo tempting
Will X700 and X600 make a huge difference for 3d games?

The X700 has almost twice the performance of the X600. But if you have a desktop system like me and are only using your laptop for casual gaming then the X600 will be good enough.

Can anybody else confirm this? I've been planning to buy the z71v but this would make me switch to the z70v in a heartbeat.

I'm not so sure the x700 will be put in there... it produces much more heat.
The heat differences between R9600 and 9700 weren't that much..

Only time can tell I suppose. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

But if it's going to be at the same price, wouldn't waiting 2-3 months be worth it?

Then again, this may not even happen at all![8D]

    Yes!!
    AFAIK its ~1000 3dmark05 on the x600 vs ~2000 3dmark05 on the x700

I was so set to pull the trigger on the Z70V tomorrow to pick up next week, if it wasn't for these rumors of an X700!!

Can anyone (like Justin, or Eddie) comment on the true likelihood of the X700 showing up in the Z70V, and whether it would be wise to wait a month?

    Thanks,
    Sandeep

I also think that it won't happen, due to the z71v's sales and the heat possibly..

the heat will make a huge difference if its changed..

Maybe I shouldn't of mentioned it [xx(]

So far I've been very impressed with the service @ CanadaSys. They've been very polite, and courteous so far. I haven't been impressed by their e-mail service so far, but everytime I've called they've waited until I was done asking all my questions until they hung up. I've used Canada Computers for a while now and I've never felt that they've wanted to give me the time of day for anything. So in comparison I like Canadasys a lot better so far. I'll let you guys know what I think about them and the notebook once I get it tomorrow.

As far as specs, I'm on a tight budget and was actually looking for something more on par with the A6Ne when I first came to the forums, but after reading more and doing research, I just couldn't sell myself on the A6Ne (regardless of it's ridiculously low price)!! The two things that drove me away from the A6Ne were

    1.) Integrated 855GME graphics.
    2.) 4200 RPM HDD.

ermm... getting back on track, my specs:

    1.73 GHz Pentium M-740 (533 MHz FSB)
    1 GB DDR2 Dual channel (533 MHz)
    8x DVD+/-RW DL
    Intel PRO Wireless 2915 (802.11 a/b/g)
    60 GB 5400 RPM

The rest are the standard Z70V specs. ATI X600 64 MB etc etc...

They opened up a Z70V in front of me so I could get the chance to play around with the keyboard, and carry it around a bit. Unfortunately none of their barebones have been sacrificed as working display models, so I kinda feel like a scape goat, but let's just hope for the best. I'll update once I'm over my glee and try to do somewhat of a decent review... but I warn that I'm no smilepak [ :p]

... omg omg omg omg... why isn't it tomorrow yet?!

    Hey Ricky,

Congrats on your purchase. Can you fill me/us in on the service at CanadaSys, and tell us about your Z70V when you get it? Thanks a ton... I'm looking at CanadaSys as well and I'm very paranoid about their service, support and warranty policies. What specs did you get?

    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Hey Ricky,

Thanks for the reply. My machine will look almost exactly like that, except with the (hopefully!!) 2ghz P-M processor after the price drops during the first week of July. I too use Canada Computers for most of my peripheral buying, but I've heard bad things about them when it comes to services that may need support.

Can't wait for your appraisal tomorrow... thanks for letting us know!

    Sandeep

lol, just signed up there. I'm the 6th registered user.

It's pretty good that their taking the initiative, seems like they're serious about becoming a notebook reseller. They'll need to revamp their website though to be more appealing and informative.

Only $76 more for the X700 and internal BT. Definately worth it.

How come Justin & Co. never replied to this one? Maybe because these guys are Canadians, buying their stuff in Canada?

    I don't think so.

The z70v with the 'x700' won't arrive here for at least 3-4 weeks after it's been released in the US. And it doesn't matter if we're from Canada, Justin mentioned that 25%(or somewhere there, I don't recall) of the orders at PP are from Canada.

    Hi,

It's very exciting to see the z70v refresh. I think this will be the laptop that I buy.

For the Canadians that just bought the z70v... what was the actual price that you ended up paying? If you don't mind me asking...

    Thanks,

    Felix

    It's pre-order

The only place I know of in Canada which currentyl sells the z70v(with x600) is CanadaSys, NCIX, one in Alberta whos name I don't recall, and just recently, Pacific Notebooks.
