befoure installing the synaptics driver, i am able to click any item just by tapping the touchpad as expected.
after installing the driver, i cant use this feature. the option "tap to select" is selected and i have gone thru all the set up steps

Your obviously doing something wrong, go through all your settings again, you have missed something. if you jsut install the driver of the cd then you dont need to mess with anytihng else, it should work unless youve changed the settings.
