My sister got a ul30jt last week and the g310m doesn't seem to turn off.
the computer is not very hot from the outside but the internal temps seem to be a bit high.
these are her temps on idle:
    Hardware monitor ACPI
    Temperature 0 56°C (132°F) [0xCDC] (THRM)

    Hardware monitor Intel Core i5
    Temperature 0 56°C (132°F) [0x31] (Core #0)
    Temperature 2 54°C (129°F) [0x33] (Core #2)

    Hardware monitor NVIDIA GeForce 310M
    Temperature 0 54°C (129°F) (GPU Core)

    Hardware monitor ST950032 5AS
    Temperature 0 36°C (96°F) [0x24] (Assembly)
    Temperature 2 36°C (96°F) [0x24] (Air Flow)

also under load(with turbo 33 on) the cpu gets to around 70C
    is this normal?

The tricky thing about Optimus is that dedicated GPU is turned off only if there are absolutely no references to it, this includes the temperatures monitors. So if You have any kind of software monitor to check the temperature of g310m, the card wont tun off. I had an sidebar gadget to detect those temps and i they never where lower than circa 50°C. After deleting it it goes definitely below 40°C.

As for the CPU temps i got 76°C max after 2h of gaming(while the nvidia goes up to 74°C).

If You don't like the temps i suggest working on different power profile for example: "Quiet Office"
